Movie Review
 The Italian Job (2003)
of 5

A band of high tech thieves try to turn the tables on a former confidant by swiping millions of his gold from the LA streets. Based on the 1969 film of the same name.

An entertaining but largely uninspired heist flick. Neither Wahlberg nor Norton has any gusto behind their roles. Theron is sweet and sexy but not very interesting. Mos Def and Seth Green do manage to paint with some color that brightens up the entire picture a bit. And I kept focusing on Edward Norton's awful mustache.

There is not much intrigue either, no surprises from the characters here. As previously stated, the movie is entertaining, however. For what the film lacks in style it makes up for in action. There are several impressive chase scenes and daring attempts to recover the gold. Its high tech edge is also appealing.

If you don't expect too much you won't be disappointed.

Directed by F. Gary Gray.

Also available: The Italian Job (1969), starring Michael Caine.
