A contract killer was left for dead at her wedding by her former colleagues five years prior has awoken from a coma and begun a tear of vengeance. She plans to travel the world seeking those who have done her wrong, saving her former boss, Bill, for last.
Another creatively directed film with all the bite you would expect from Tarantino. Animated sequences and useful flashbacks are fun and nicely coexist with the plot line and action. I was left a bit confused with the use of campy and over the top blood bursts as limbs coming flying off various combatants. These promote a comic book feel but seem out of step with the cinematography and writing. I also don't need the chapter designations Tarantino is fond of. I find them superfluous and distracting. These items seem to have become Tarantino's intrusive trademark but make the whole movie feel over-cooked.
But the action, cinematography and characters are great. A very good action/drama for sure but with limited appeal beyond those seeking blooding, high-kicking action.
Directed by Quentin Tarantino.
