A Gulf War combat general (Redford) is sent to a military prison headed by a renegade warden (Gandolfini). When the general learns of the prison's violent ways, he leads an uprising aimed at ousting the warden.
An interesting and entertaining moving. Not as much character development as you might like but a good story with a nice pay off at the end.
I was a little disappointed too, in Gandolfini's character. Sure, he had men shot in the exercise yard, but he certainly didn't seem tyrannical. I wish he were a bit more ferocious. There were a couple other items I'd add to the script, also; items that got some mention in the film but were then lost. Perhaps some day I'll be asked to direct a film, so I can make these decisions count.
Directed by Rod Lurie.
