Novel-based account of a white man raised by Mohican Indians and his efforts to lead a small group of people in a fight over oppression.
Daniel Day-Lewis gives a fine performance in the title role, there is a decent story to be told here and Mann's directing proves interested and entertaining. Unfortunately, the script fails so miserably that it largely defeats all that is worthy in this picture.
There isn't enough character development and little in the way of interesting dialogue. Far from a total loss, but not nearly the picture it should’ve been.
