It's
New Year's Eve 1981, and pairings of
friends are trying to make it to a New
York party. They all seem to get sidetracked
for one reason or another and their comedic
misadventures lead to them to the party
eventually, and to feats of self discovery.
200
Cigarettes has nothing groundbreaking
and isn't incredibly funny. It is rather
witty and somewhat intelligent, though.
Most of the dialogue is worth hearing
and there are more than one wacky situations
the characters get into that prove pretty
funny. One of it's real highlights, however,
is the Art Direction; each and every
scene is lit perfectly and is a wonderful
composition of color.
Look
for Elvis Costello in a great cameo role.
Directed by Risa Bramon Garcia.
