Pedigree dog owners from around the country flock to Philadelphia for the annual Mayflower Dog Show in this spoof.
This comedy makes dog shows almost a subcultural event. I was expecting a more raucous comedy, but the seriousness in which the film is handled is funny in and of itself. The writing is creative and the punchlines aren't wasted in this surprising farce.
Most performances are really good and Fred Willard may have revitalized his career with this role as a brash commentator.
Directed by Christopher Guest.
DVD recommended. Lots of deleted scenes.
