Jim Carrey is Andy Kaufman in this entertaining biography of the irreverent entertainer who died of a rare form of lung cancer in 1984.

A very enjoyable and interesting look at Kaufman's life. Kaufman was more interested in surprising his audience and giving them something to react to rather than simply making them laugh. Andy says in the film that he isn't a comedian, that he doesn't even know what's funny. This attitude shelters Andy and soon even those close to him begin to doubt his sincerity and the truth in his actions. We begin to feel sorry for Andy Kaufman that he has created such a lonely place for himself; but we can't help to laugh at his hilarious onstage antics also.

A high quality film that sports a wonderfully convincing lead performance from Jim Carrey.
