Before asking his girlfriend to marry him, a young man is set up on a weekend visit to meet her parents. But when her father crosses him at every move, he begins to get nervous, embarrass himself and engage in witless destruction.
I was convinced this movie would be bad. It's not; in fact, it's pretty darn funny. Stiller and DeNiro work pretty well together. And most of the supporting characters help the story, too. Although more could've been made of some of these characters, this may have detracted from the firmly stated confrontation between DeNiro and Stiller. It's bordering on screwball comedy status, but it never seems like too much.
Directed by Jay Roach.
