A highway mishap has an ambitious attorney (Affleck) seeking out a dedicated father (Jackson) for the return of a valuable court document he obtained at the scene of the accident.
Billed (somewhat misleadingly) as more of an action thriller, Changing Lanes has much more to offer. There is the occasional action sequence; but we also get a quick sense of the characters and what each is capable of. This lines up the whole film, providing a starting point for us while we see how far each man will allow himself to go in order to get what he wants. This makes for a decent character study and provides for some cat and mouse drama as well.
While not boldly original nor without flaw, you may be wholly surprised as to what Changing Lanes has to offer.
Directed by Roger Michell.
