The Color of Money
of 5

A cocky, young pool player is taken under the wing of a grizzled veteran shark. They set out to find marks in Atlantic City.

A much-loved 80's flick that has a high entertainment value. Although if you're interested in things like character development and creative writing - you could do better. Here are two very interesting and likable lead characters, but not much interesting happens to them. They have a few confrontations that lend to the story, but do little to develop the characters. But still this is an entertaining film, fans of the actors and nine-ball players everywhere still have the movie poster on their wall. And you'll be hard pressed to find a film in which Tom Cruise looks sillier (expect maybe Legend).

Academy Award winner: Best Actor (Newman).

Directed by Martin Scorsese.
