A Wall Street power broker is relieved of his posh Manhattan apartment as he wakes up in New Jersey with a wife and two kids on Christmas morning, as he is shown a glimpse of what his life would've been like had he married his college girlfriend.
A heartwarming romantic comedy set around the Holidays. I don't seem to tire of fantasy films of this nature, after all who hasn't wondered what their life may be like had they made different choices? It's a human reaction to our very existence; and therefore universal. But that doesn't make all these films good. The Family Man, however, does seem to sparkle a bit. Although Cage and Leoni aren't magical together, Cage on his own gives an all out effort in a part that, when compared to many of his past characters, isn't a very demanding role. He's a pleasure to watch and is given decent dialogue and supporting characters with which to work. By most measures a fine movie. This is a film you may find yourself watching over again, whenever a spell of self-awareness strikes.
