Igby is a despondent 17-year old who gets kicked out several private schools and ditches military academy in favor of hiding out in his godfather's New York loft.
A well defined movie with lots of interesting characters and more than a couple laughs. Susan Sarandon gives a wonderful performance as Igby's much-troubled mother. I wasn't entirely thrilled with Kieran Culkin's performance, but he did come across as teen who truly does not care. I am fairly certain he does not smile at all throughout the picture. Claire Danes gives a good performance also, as Igby's part-time love interest.
A nice cast, creative writting and good story flow help to lift up Igby Goes Down.
Written & Directed by Burr Steers.
