A
Philadelphia radio show
host is lured to Atlantic
City and introduced to
a speculative Hawaiian
land deal his on-the-edge
brother has cooked up.
A good script combines
with a tight cast to offer
one of the lesser-known
classics of the 1970's.
What is most interesting
about the film is the
reversal of roles that
Nicholson and Dern take
on. Casting Dern as the
flim-flam brother and
Nicholson as the conservative,
skeptical brother showed
real daring and even creativity.
As good as they both are
in these roles, I can't
help but wish the DVD
had a special alternate
version of the feature
with the two actors in
reversed roles. It would
be an interesting comparison.
Directed by Bob Rafelson.
