A naive Texan playboy
sets up to become a hustler
in New York City. When
it doesn't go as planned,
he takes up with a greasy,
low-rent con-man.
A gritty portrayal of
life on the New York streets.
Both stars put in fantastic
performances in a picture
that was considered quite
edgy in its time. But
the years have been kind
to Midnight Cowboy, it's
a thought-provoking cross
section of street life.
And its pretty darned
entertaining too. Although
there is a bit of that
wild editing that's typical
of the era.
Directed by John Schlesinger.
