A university literature professor is suffering a mid life crisis on the weekend of a visit from his book editor.
The preceding description doesn't come close to defining all the trouble that becomes this professor. Including a pregnant lover, dead house pet, angry wife, stolen car, bizarre students and a transsexual acquaintance. This multi-faceted plot really keeps the film moving. An all-star cast, intelligent script and some nice ironic laughs should please those seeking light, twisted drama. Not the feel-good, inspirational type of teacher/student film, but it delivers in other ways.
Academy Award winner for Best Song (Bob Dylan).
Directed by Curtis Hanson.
